Kenya
The journey
Kenya gives you more variety in two weeks than almost anywhere: the old tuskers of Amboseli with Kilimanjaro floating behind them, high Laikipia plateaus you can explore on horseback, the open grass of a Maasai Mara conservancy and, at the end, a white-washed house on the Lamu archipelago where the only traffic is a dhow under sail.
13 nights
How the days unfold
- 01Amboseli · 3 nights
Beneath Kilimanjaro
A private conservancy on the edge of Amboseli. Early drives for the elephant families, when the mountain is clearest, and an afternoon with a Maasai host.
- 02Laikipia · 3 nights
The high country
A family-run ranch with horses, camels and a working conservation programme. Ride out among giraffe and zebra, or join the rhino monitoring team.
- 03Maasai Mara conservancy · 4 nights
The Mara, privately
Vehicle numbers in the conservancies are strictly limited, so sightings stay quiet. Off-road driving, walking and night drives are all permitted.
- 04Lamu archipelago · 3 nights
Barefoot on the coast
A private house with staff on Manda or Lamu Island. Sail by dhow at sunset, wander Lamu's old town and do as little as you like.
Highlights
- Amboseli's elephants with Kilimanjaro behind
- Horseback safari on a Laikipia ranch
- Four nights in a private Mara conservancy
- A staffed beach house on the Lamu archipelago
- Dhow sailing at sunset
Included
Private guide in each region, internal flights, all accommodation, meals and most drinks, safari activities, conservancy fees, coastal excursions and our 24-hour line.
