The journey
The northern Serengeti in August belongs to the herds: a million wildebeest pressing towards the Mara River, gathering on the bank for hours, then pouring over in a single rush. Most visitors share the moment with a dozen vehicles and a lunch reservation. You will not. Your guide and vehicle are yours for the whole journey, your camp is a small mobile one moved to follow the herds, and when a crossing builds you stay until it is over.

How the days unfold
- 01Arusha · 1 night
Arrival, unhurried
Met at the aircraft steps at Kilimanjaro International and driven to a garden lodge on a working coffee farm. Dinner with your guide, who talks you through the days ahead.
- 02Northern Serengeti · 4 nights
The river crossings
A private mobile camp near Kogatende, a short drive from the main crossing points. Days start before sunrise with coffee in the vehicle; lunch comes to you if the herds are building.
- 03Grumeti private reserve · 3 nights
Grumeti on foot and by night
A private concession where walking safaris and night drives are permitted. One morning begins in a balloon basket above the plains, ending with breakfast in the grass.
- 04Ngorongoro highlands · 2 nights
Crater and highlands
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater as the gate opens, ahead of the day traffic, then return to a farmhouse lodge for a long lunch and a slow last evening.
